"Our Health is a Responsibility" Campaign to Raise Health Awareness Among King Khalid University Students

The College of Arts and Humanities, in collaboration with the Deanship of Student Affairs and in partnership with the College of Applied Medical Sciences in Al-Qaraa, organized a health awareness campaign titled *"Our Health is a Responsibility"* on Tuesday, 28th of Rabi' al-Awwal 1446 AH. This campaign is part of the ongoing efforts to enhance health awareness among university students.

The campaign, held in the atrium of the College of Applied Medical Sciences, aimed to educate students on the importance of maintaining their health by providing valuable information on healthy living. The event featured various activities focused on raising awareness, such as distributing educational brochures that explained the importance of proper nutrition and its impact on overall health. The campaign also highlighted the significance of regular physical activity and adopting healthy daily habits.

In addition, free health consultations were provided by specialists, offering students practical advice they could incorporate into their daily routines. The campaign received a large turnout, with students expressing keen interest and engagement with the presented materials, reflecting their commitment to improving and maintaining their health.

This campaign exemplifies the university's mission to promote health awareness among its students and assist them in adopting healthier lifestyles that enhance both their academic and personal lives.

World Translation Day Event at King Khalid University

The “Safahat” Club, in collaboration with the College of Languages and Translation Club at King Khalid University, organized an event titled “World Translation Day” on Monday, 27th of Rabi’ al-Awwal 1446 AH, at 10:00 AM in the central library in Al-Qaraa. The event was held to celebrate International Translation Day, aiming to raise awareness of the importance of translation and culture and their role in bridging communication between different peoples.

The program began with cultural information about the history of translation, highlighting its evolution and significance in transferring knowledge between civilizations. The event also included interactive activities where visitors enthusiastically answered cultural questions and wrote down their favorite quotes.

Attendees benefited from the event by gaining new insights into translation, fostering a love for literature and books, and exchanging information and experiences among participants.

College of Applied Medical Sciences Marks International Day of Older Persons under the Theme “We Will Not Forget You”

On Monday, September 30, 2024, the College of Applied Medical Sciences celebrated the International Day of Older Persons under the theme “We Will Not Forget You.” The event was inaugurated by the university’s Dean, Dr. Majid Al-Fai’a, with participation from all departments in both the male and female sections of the college. Each of the five departments provided detailed explanations of the diseases that may affect the elderly, alongside preventative measures and treatments. Through iPad presentations and hands-on demonstrations led by the Department of Medical Rehabilitation Sciences, visitors were also offered the opportunity to visit the college clinics as needed, under the supervision of the department’s faculty members

The Dental College Club (female section), in partnership with the male section and in collaboration with the Deanship of Student Affairs for Female Students, organized an event titled "Educational Forum for Dental Students" on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the small hall of the conference and seminar building near the Dental College in Al-Far'a.

The event saw a large turnout, with approximately 300 students in attendance, including the Dean of the College, college officials, faculty members, and visitors from outside the college.

This forum aimed to provide an educational and informative experience for first-year dental students, introducing them to various specialties and academic requirements. It also provided an overview of each specialty's fundamentals through practical demonstrations. Additionally, the event offered guidance on time management during studies, the importance of mental and emotional well-being, tips for effective studying, and maintaining a healthy diet.

The event featured a variety of stations offering practical experiences and demonstrations on how to handle medical tools and patients. The stations included:

- Periodontics, Community Dentistry, Diagnosis, and Oral Pathology Station: Introduced students to the tools used in patient treatment and how to diagnose oral diseases.

- Restorative Dentistry and Endodontics Station: Demonstrated tools for filling cavities and methods for root canal treatment.

- Prosthodontics and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Station: Presented types of dental prostheses and surgical procedures for the face and jaws.

- Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics Station: Showcased common dental issues in children and the treatment options for orthodontic problems.

- Awareness Station: Provided advice on effective studying, healthy eating, and proper posture in the clinic.

- Student Counseling Station (Rushd): Offered psychological and physical support to students.

- Calligraphy Station: Personalized bookmarks and souvenir medals were handed out with names written in traditional Arabic calligraphy.

The event also featured competitions and prizes, along with an interactive board where students could share their opinions and impressions of the forum. At the end of the event, outstanding students from the student club were honored.

The forum was highly praised by attendees, who expressed their gratitude to everyone involved in making this important educational event a success.

"Develop Your Skills" Event Enhances Scientific Skills Among College of Science Students

On Tuesday, 14/3/1446 AH, the College of Science Club, in collaboration with the Deanship of Student Affairs, organized a scientific event titled "Develop Your Skills" in the college’s cultural activities hall. The event aimed to enhance students' skills and expand their knowledge across various scientific fields through a competitive quiz that brought together students from different departments.

The participants were divided into four teams, competing in a series of scientific questions covering chemistry, physics, biology, and mathematics. The competition witnessed high engagement and enthusiasm, as students demonstrated a strong level of knowledge and competitiveness. After each question, a simplified explanation and detailed answer were provided by faculty members who helped prepare the competition, enriching the students' knowledge and enhancing their skills.

At the end of the competition, the second team, consisting of Faisal Khalid Al-Hazmi, Abdullah Awad Al-Shahrani, Badr Mu'id Al-Bushri, and Abdul Majeed Salem, secured first place with a score of 7 points. The first team, composed of Abdullah Murei' Abdullah, Mohammed Ali Yahya Ayyash, Elias Hassan Asiri, and Abdulrahman Salman Jathmi, took second place with 6 points. The third place went to the fourth team, which included Faiz Ali Al-Shahri, Rayan Saeed Al-Qahtani, Abdulmalik Al-Qahtani, and Khalid Masfer Al-Qahtani, scoring 5 points. Finally, the third team, consisting of Sami Ahmed Al-Hamrani, Bandar Abdullah Hussein, Rayan Ibrahim Al-Makhlouti, and Talal Ahmed Al-Ahmadi, finished in fourth place with 3 points.

At the end of the event, prizes and medals were awarded to the winning teams, and commemorative photos were taken to capture the celebration.

The program aimed to raise awareness of the importance of sports and highlight the positive impact of regular physical activity in preventing diseases and improving overall health.

The two-day event included several competitive sports activities among the college students, with prizes distributed to the participants. The event attracted nearly 750 students from various departments, reflecting the growing interest among students in the benefits of sports and the importance of maintaining health through physical activity.
